Dave Shepard
Over the course of a decade, I helped HubSpot grow revenue from $20 million to $1 billion. But in 2018, I was failing and on my way out.
As I stepped on the plane to attend President’s Club for my 2017 performance, my 100-person team was at 69% of our Q1 target.
I was embarrassed.
Overnight, my team had gone from elite to non-existent and all their effort, pride, and joy had vanished.
I felt confused, overwhelmed, resentful and righteous.
So, I worked harder.
After a few more months – burned out, alone, and in my darkest moment – I was saved by a stroke of insight.
“What if my team’s total lack of effort is not the problem but a symptom of something bigger?”
In other words, what am I missing? What’s the problem behind the problem?
It was me.
So, I revamped my management operating system, hired a coach, developed a compelling vision for the business, and crawled out of the abyss.
My darkest moment became my greatest leadership success. We finished the year at 99.4% or our revenue target and never looked back.
Fast forward to today, I coach CEOs and founders how to be more creative, resourceful, and powerful so they can grow the business and life of their dreams.
My clients don’t rely on lucky insights – like I did in 2018 – to be successful. They develop a unique set of skills, confidence, and authenticity that drives success across all areas of their life.
When I start working with my clients, they are usually experiencing a few of the following:
- Struggling to make good decisions
- Recover quickly from setbacks
- Improve their anxiety, doubt, and performance
- Inspire their team with a compelling vision
- Communicate an inspiring vision to investors
- Build a cohesive and successful executive team
- Transition a key team member who used to be an "A-player"
- Build a management system that sets priorities AND gets sh*t done
